A DAY BEFORE THE EXAMINATION
Outline:
Fear and anxiety-mind puzzled- memory failing- no appetite, living help sought- not a wink of sleep your feelings of helplessness & hope-your overall assessment.
A day before the examination is full of fear and anxiety. One is extremely nervous. One wears the picture of forgetfulness. An examinee is sad and gloomy (disappionted). He/she feels feverish and puzzled. The examination ahead of him/her appears an age.
With a perplexed (disturbed) mind, the examinee rushes through page after page. A complete darkness ascends (falls) on the mind. Memory appears to be failing. The guides, notes, books and exercise books lie scattered (here and there). They are piled up (gathered) in the shape of the Himalayas. What to read and what not to read clouds the brain.
The night just before the examination is sleepless. There is no wink of sleep in the eyes. One tosses (moves left and right) in the bed again and again, then looks at the alarm bell. He/ she burns the midnight oil (works hard late into the night) and at day-break gets up (leaves) with swollen eyes and lumbering (heavy and clumsy) feet. The head is giddy (seems to be moving). The heart keeps beating either too fast or appears to be stationary (moveless).
Long and silent prayers are muttered (told nary (moveless). in a very low voice) to God. The examinee implores (begs) Almighty to sail him/her through the acid test of examination. The poor examinee becomes an innocent (faultless) creature ensnared (fallen in the trapp) of examination. Many a sleepless night passes with tension clearly visible on the withered (dried) face.
I gripped into feelings of disappointment and hope when sat for the test examnation just five months ago. The pressure of achieving greater success this time made me so. Nevertheless (yet) I sailed through (succeeded) the examination. It helped me reduce my tension for the forth-coming examination.
